Dr. Francisco Rojas Aravena

Francisco Rojas Aravena (Chile): PhD in Political Science and specialist in International Relations and Public Security. Since 2004 is the Secretary General of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences-FLACSO, from 1996 to 2004 he was Director of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences in Chile (FLACSO-Chile). Early in his career he was professor of International Relation s, International Cooperation, Latin America in world politics and US foreign policy towards Central America at the University of Costa Rica (UCR). He has also served as Research Coordinator of the School of International Relations at the same university. He has taught at Stanford University in the Santiago de Chile Campus, and in the Instituto de Estudios Internacionales at the Chilean University; also was Fullbright professor at the Latin American and Caribbean Center of Florida International University (FIU) Miami (1986 -1987). With some regularity, he has been invited to lecture at the MBA program in Latin American Studies at the Complutense University and Instituto Ortega y Gasset in Madrid. Dr. Rojas has served as consultant of United Nations programs of UNDP and ECLAC. He is also a member of the Latin American Advisory Board of the Open Society Institute (OSI), and of the Equitas Foundation.

He has published extensively on political science, Latin-American foreign policy, defence and security ma tters of the Americas.
